Online Therapy for Women of Color and Haitian Women in California & Texas
“I thought I healed from this. Why does it keep coming up?”
You are showing up for work, family, relationships, and everything that needs to get done. Still, anxiety, depression, painful experiences, or patterns you cannot seem to shake keep following you. My work is centered on helping women understand what is underneath those struggles so they can feel more grounded, trust themselves more, and move through life with greater intention.
Why does this keep showing up when I thought I already worked through it?
You may find yourself overthinking conversations long after they are over, questioning decisions you already made, or wondering why you keep ending up in relationships that leave you hurt. You may understand why someone treated you the way they did while having a much harder time making room for your own anger, hurt, or needs.
You might also notice how quickly you turn on yourself when you make a mistake. You tell yourself you should have known better, done better, or handled things differently. And even when you have created distance from painful relationships or understand where these patterns started, your body may still react as though the past is happening now.
It can leave you wondering, why is this still affecting me?
You can start with what is showing up for you now.
We can start with what is showing up for you now, even if you thought you had already worked through it, moved past it, or simply stopped thinking about it. That might look like anxiety that keeps you overthinking and questioning yourself, depression that leaves you feeling disconnected or unlike yourself, or painful experiences from the past that still seem to be affecting you today. From there, we begin to make sense of your story, connect what you are feeling now with what you have lived through, and understand the bigger picture together.
Therapy for Anxiety
Anxiety can leave you overthinking, questioning yourself, preparing for what might go wrong, or needing reassurance before you feel comfortable making a decision. Together, we can work on managing the anxiety while also becoming curious about the patterns, experiences, and beliefs that may be keeping it going.
Therapy For Depression
Depression does not always mean that everything in your life has stopped. You can still work, parent, show up for people, and take care of what needs to get done while feeling disconnected, exhausted, unmotivated, or unlike yourself. Therapy with me gives you room to understand what you are feeling and what may be contributing to it.
Therapy for Trauma
Painful experiences can continue affecting the way you see yourself, trust others, respond in relationships, and move through life long after the experience itself. This can include experiences you have always recognized as painful as well as things you grew up thinking were simply normal. Together, we can begin making sense of those experiences and how they may still be showing up for you today.
Your culture and family are part of your story, too.
The way you learned to see yourself did not develop in isolation. Family, culture, relationships, and the messages you received growing up can all shape how you respond to authority, how comfortable you feel speaking up, what you believe you owe other people, how you parent, and whether you feel allowed to have needs of your own.
For some women, this can mean realizing that being respectful became staying quiet, or that being a good daughter meant being obedient even when something hurt. You may be trying to parent differently from the way you were raised, while noticing that when you feel overwhelmed, some of the same reactions you grew up with come out. Or you may have learned that what happens in the family stays in the family, making it difficult to talk about experiences that still affect you.
Therapy with me is not about asking you to reject your culture or everything you were taught. We can look at what shaped you with curiosity, make space for what you value, and also notice what may no longer serve you. Part of that work can be learning that you are allowed to have a voice, make choices that are right for you, and decide what you want to carry forward.
Making room for your Haitian identity
As a Haitian woman and therapist, I can also help you put some of your experiences into cultural context. There may be moments in therapy when we can name, “Yes, in our culture, this is where that comes from,” and then look at how that message has shaped you. That might include what you learned about respecting authority, being obedient, keeping family matters private, parenting, speaking up for yourself, or what it means to be a good daughter or woman.
The goal is not to tell you that your culture is wrong or that you need to leave parts of it behind. It is to help you understand what shaped you, recognize what still feels meaningful to you, and decide what you want to carry forward without losing your own voice.
Therapy is available in English and Haitian Creole for clients in California and Texas.
